What is the Emerging Leaders Council?

The Emerging Leaders Council (ELC) is an advisory cohort of graduates under the age of 35 who serve for one year to function as a task force to provide real world solutions and leadership on a chosen Alumni Relations project.

How the ELC Works: An Overview

The ELC meets twice during their term - once in the fall and once in the spring. The ELC will select one Alumni Relations project to tackle during their term. Over the course of the term, the ELC will collaborate together on practical solutions. During the second meeting, they will present their solution to the Vice President of Advancement & Alumni Relations. The council will also hear from campus leaders to provide further understanding of operations at the school. This knowledge assists the ELC in completing their task project. 

The ELC is also a chance for recent grads to connect and be iron-sharpening-iron for one another and for the university. During the ELC visit, special networking opportunities are available including a highlight alumni event exclusive for the ELC. 

This program is a vital part of young alumni participation and is an opportunity for recent graduates to provide leadership and implement their creative Alumni Relations ideas at BJU. 2019_spring_ELC_3.jpg

  • Graduates under the age of 35 are welcome to apply
  • Choosing to apply means you must make plans to be available for both meetings. The first session will be virtual. 
  • Applicants are evaluated on leadership experience - be prepared to provide examples of your current and recent opportunities in areas such as your workplace, community, and church.
  • Applicants must provide 2 references - Recommended: employer, former professor or mentor
