"We have been called as Christians to serve the Lord and to bring others to Christ. And, making a gift to Bob Jones University is a way to further the mission and that cause." – Barbara M., Heritage Society member
It's a gift to the future, not only to BJU, but to other communities across the nation and into eternity. See below how BJU Alumni have made a difference.
The concept of training the whole person to understand God and humanity more clearly is the overarching picture of my time at Bob Jones University. My education at BJU…taught me how to think, speak, and act in the professional manner that is required in my line of work. As an Officer in the United States Navy, there is a professional ethic that constrains me, and the scrupulous education at Bob Jones University provided me with the tools that I needed to be successful. As a specific example, my Communication professors spent eight semesters helping me refine and perfect my public speaking skills. Neither they nor I knew that my job would require years of countless briefs to a room full of senior officers, peers, and juniors. Fortunately for me, my speech and rhetoric habits were shaped by the guidance of the intellectual giants in the Division of Communication. I cannot find the eloquence to convey my heartfelt appreciation to the faculty and staff of Bob Jones University. I can say without equivocation that I grew as a result of every single class that I attended and that growth has been the bedrock of my professional success.
“The education I received at Bob Jones University was outstanding. I was well prepared to enter the profession." In 2014, Jason was named "School Administrator of the Year" in the Greenville County School District (GCSD). According to the GCSD, “Jason has created an environment at Beck that encourages teachers to work together to provide high-quality instruction and assessments. He can often be seen in the halls talking and listening to students, and in turn, encouraging them to strive for excellence. He has made it possible for students to enjoy the Forensics Team and Youth in Government programs. The school’s phone app, new logo, and parent newsletter have all received state-level awards.”
I believe my BJU education prepared me well for my professional career. I received an excellent technical education in accounting (BS, 1987) and received six separate job offers in major international accounting firms before graduation. Beyond just my specialized accounting training, I received a broad liberal arts foundation that has benefitted me personally and professionally. My English, writing, speech and religion classes have been particularly helping in preparing me to lead, in my work and in my life outside of work.
